Brad helpfully mentioned that Spring is on its way to the Willamette Valley, which means it’s as good a time as any to start thinking about motorcycling events. And, thanks to the terrible economy, it appears that I’m going to have some more time on my hands than usual. Why not turn these lemons into some nice lemonade?
- Barnacle Bistro grand-opening party, last weekend in May: motorcyclist-friendly restaurant in Gold Beach, OR.
- BMW Riders of Oregon Chief Joseph Rally, June 18-21 They said they’d let me in, even if I don’t ride a BMW!
- AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, August 19-22: Keystone, CO. The jury’s still out on this one.
- ADVRider Pac NorthWetFest, September 11-12: Undecided on this one too.
With any luck, I’ll accumulate enough miles to take that pesky ART course! Are there any other events I should add to my radar?
One last thing… I’m testing out a new poll feature on the site. Check it out on the right sidebar. Your responses will give me some good post fodder!

Plenty of ADV events in the NW if you are interested. I prefer to ride alone 90% of the time, though, so maybe I’m not the best to comment
Other good events: there’s an ADV event over to Hells Canyon/Wallowas on Jun4-Jun7. That should be pretty good; that area is one of my favorites for riding in the Northwest. There’s always Hyder and Hyderseek, and wetleather if you want to join that crowd.
There’s an ART on May 11. You should do it then because that’s when I’m doing it..
I also prefer to ride alone or with my partner along as we travel well together. I’ll do a day ride with a group, but I doubt I’d like caravaning on a long trip. Too many personalities and opinions to attend to!
These would be my first “mini-rally” events, so we’ll see if I like the variety.
You’re the second person I know taking that May 11 ART. Y’all can get together and tell me I suck for not being there.
I may end up having to ride down to Medford to take one later in the summer.
Don’t feel bad. I’m an instructor and I don’t even know my ART schedule, yet! I taught the class in Medford last year. I like that track a lot. It’s smaller than Pat’s Acres but much more technical. We just have to chase away rattlesnakes when we set up early in the morning. There’s usually only one class a year, though, in Medford.
Lots of events listed on the Women in the Wind, Northern Women calendar . Hope you can make many!
The AMA women’s conferences are awesome, so I hope you go. I’m planning to. You don’t have to go with a group. The last two I went to I just rode with one other person. You can room with more when you get there if you want to save some dough. Otherwise, room alone and just meet people at the events and informal chats. There’s good energy there.
