You know Spring has arrived in the Willamette Valley when the weather can’t decide if it wants to be snowy, rainy, drizzly, cloudy, or sunny and so subjects us to all of the above with a dash of hail thrown in for good measure. Despite the threatening clouds, a few of us took a short ride on Saturday and managed to avoid most of the rain showers as we made our way around the Kings Valley Loop.
We stopped at the Ritner Creek Bridge to have a little looksee:
After our stop, we continued up Kings Valley Highway and then cut over to Monmouth, where we had lunch. We returned via a quick jaunt down Corvallis Rd/Independence Highway in order to beat an oncoming downpour.
Sunday morning greeted Corvallis with wet, sloppy snowfall. The Better Half wanted the car that morning and got it, and I had to be in Tangent that morning for a WITW meeting, so another ride in the wet and cold beckoned. The sign by Freebird read 39° and the pavement was merely wet, which helped my mood, but when it became evident that out of all the members present I was the only one who rode to the meeting, my mood was lifted to a whole ‘nother level. Watch out, this kind of smugness goes straight to the head!

Ms. Stacy: Smug or not it was earned. We had some nice days last week which led me to proclaiming I have the bike or for the season. Of course when Saturday night came around and it was time to go out for dinner it was all of 38f. I still don’t understand why people think I’m crazy when I ride in this stuff. Hey, the snow is gone. So what is a little cold when all you are doing is riding around town anyway?
