I’m Glad I Listened This Time

by Stacy on April 27, 2009

Have you ever had the feeling that today just might not be a good day to ride? I certainly have, and it usually manifests itself as a little nagging feeling that something’s not right.

For instance, I met up with some friends on Saturday morning for coffee. While riding to the coffee shop, I felt a brief Twinge of Uncertainty, but the rest of the ride was so completely unremarkable that I dismissed the feeling without another thought.

That is, until the ride back home when I nearly got myself into an accident while making a left turn onto 4th Street, a busy one way street. 100% my fault, as I was too focused on some pedestrians crossing the street and the cars threatening to turn into my intended lane of travel instead of paying attention to the oncoming traffic! Eek! Thanks to the SV, I was able to make a quick getaway.

Normally, a mistake like this wouldn’t bother me too badly, though, of course the goal is to keep such things to a minimum. But combined with my earlier bad feeling, it was enough to keep me from taking the ride I had planned for later in the afternoon.

This turned out to be a good decision because a few hours later, I was in bed and not feeling well at all. I was very glad to be at home instead of someplace like the coast! Unfortunately, coming down with the ick kept me off the bike the whole weekend.

On a happier note, I used the raw material left over from my visor squeegee project to make a whole bunch of Squees. $5 shipped and one can be yours. :)

Glad you are safe! To tell you the truth, I never paid much attention to those little nagging feelings before I started riding. After a few months on two wheels, I definitely acquired a strong respect for them.

Glad all turned out OK, hope you get over the ick quickly! I like the visor squeegee project! I usually try and wipe my visor with my gloves, which doesn't work and leaves me with damp hands. Do you do PayPal? For $5 I'd support your project and buy one!

sometimes I get gut "feelings", sometimes something happens on the road and I have learned not to ignore them. I also made rules which I have been following less: such as how cold and still ride, how hot and still ride, not to ride the 1st day after a long hot spell, Fridays on Long weekends, and so on. In order to stay safe you have to listen to your inner voice

I have a PayPal account at bolt250 at gmail dot com

If you do send a payment, shoot me an email at the same address above with your mailing address and I'll send your Squee to you posthaste! Oh yeah, all proceeds go toward paying for my bandwidth bill. :)
