I’ve previously written about the bar end mirrors in the Triumph Street Triple accessory catalog being dead-ringers for Rizoma Reverse Retro bar end mirrors. The Triumph version of the mirrors includes a mounting kit that fits the Street Triple, but can be easily modified to fit the Suzuki SV650 as well.
By combining pieces from the Triumph mirror’s mounting kit and the stock bar end weights on the SV650, you can put together a mount that works on the SV’s bars (which are 7/8 inch, by the way). Best of all, the only modification required is drilling out the hole in the aluminum bar end piece that comes from the Triumph kit so it’s slightly bigger. All the stock bar end pieces remain intact, so you could easily bring your SV back to stock shape if necessary.
Here are the parts included in each Triumph mirror kit:
Set aside everything but the big black aluminum end piece shown in the center of the picture.
Here is a stock bar end weight from the Suzuki SV650:
The only part you’ll need is the rubber insert that’s on the very left of the picture. Here’s a shot of the required mounting parts:
The bolt is an M6x1.00 30mm socket head. If you pick wisely, the socket head of the new bolt will fit neatly into the recess in the bar end piece. It’s worth taking the bar end to the hardware store to test fit the bolts before buying them. I found that the heads of some bolts would not fit despite the bolt having the correct dimensions (M6x1.00 30mm). Home Depot or your local hardware store should have what you need.
Drill out the hole in the aluminum bar end from the mirror kit. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the size of drill bit that was used. For an M6x1.00 screw, the hole should be around 5mm in diameter.
Here’s the piece after being drilled out:
And here’s everything loosely put together:
The open end of the handlebar:
And now with the mirror mount inserted and bolt being tightened:
A few shots of the finished mirror mount:
Once the mirror mount is on the bar, it’s a simple matter to fit the end of the mirror on the mount and tighten the hex head screw to hold it in place. Repeat for the second mirror and you’re done.
You know I can’t resist taking pictures of my bike after putting on a new farkle!
I’ve been using these mirrors for two months now. I love how they look and the clarity of the mirror glass is excellent. The downsides are a smaller viewing area and a tighter viewing angle: when I’m carrying a full load of gear strapped to the passenger seat, the mirror angles are such that I can’t see around the load. In that case, I flip the mirrors around 180° horizontally so that they point out even further.
These mirrors are a worthy candidate for any SV650.

The SV650 looks pretty nice with those mirrors. I’ve always like the Suzuki styling though I have leaned more towards the DL650 V Strom. The local dealer that I am now riding and writing for has a used V Strom in stock. If it is around for awhile I might take it for a whirl.
Your site is just packed with useful information. Not sure how I missed that but I am going to add you to my blog roll.

The VStrom is a great bike. I’ve sat on several examples and the ergos are very nice. The ‘Strom is just a little too tall and a little too heavy for me to handle comfortably as a daily rider. I hope you get a chance to try one out. Then think: the exact same motor in a bike that weighs significantly less!
I’m pretty sure I have a reciprocal link for you but I’ll double check.
Ms. Stacy: You sure a handy little cus. Nice work here and those mirros like very nice on your little motor. Keep up the great work!

Hi Tom, thanks for mentioning the Motrax mirrors. They look like a nice alternative.
Stacy, any chance you know if this would be the same installation protocol for the Suzuki SFV650 Gladius??
@Frank: My answer is “yes, probably.”
I believe the stock bars on the Gladius are 7/8″ so the mirrors should fit. If there’s going to be an issue, it’ll be with the Gladius’s stock bar end weights. I suggest loosening one of the weights and pulling it out. If it looks similar to this picture above then you’ll probably be OK. Just make sure to keep the rubber cylinder and nut from the stock bar ends, and buy the correct bolt to match.
Good luck. Let me know how it goes if you decide to try it.
This is incredible. Thank you for posting this up. I was looking for good looking functional mirrors and came across this link at SVForum.com This is incredibly helpful and I think I might go this route. The mirrors look great and the install is easy. Thanks, again!
@Joel: You’re welcome. I had zero problems with these mirrors and got lots of compliments about them.
Hi,
Found your write-up while I was doing a Google search on barend mirrors for the Street Triple. Very nice solution for the SV!
I was wondering what diameter the part from the Triumph mounting kit is on which the mirror is being clamped/mounted. Looking at the pictures I guess it’s 7/8 inch, just like the diameter of the SV handlebar. Unfortunately I can’t find the dimension anywhere. Hope you can help me out.
Thanks!
