Getting some last minute tips (i.e. “the brakes are really good, don’t grab ‘em”) and directions around Bend:

After 10 interesting miles during which I felt a little like Mr. Hyde, I returned back to the dealership. Here’s a shot of me executing a rather shaky u-turn on an unfamiliar steed:

So, how did you feel about the Monster 696 then? Was it very different from the SV?

I cheated saturday too- rode eight bikes:
Triumph Daytona 675, Scrambler
BMW K1200LT, R1200GS, F800GS
Suzuki DL650ABS, DRZ400S
Kawasaki Versys

I have ridden the Ducati also. I prefer the Triumph Street Triple. I didn’t feel the 696 was a big enough upgrade over the SV. Especially for the price. I’m sure the 1000 monster would be. But it is outrageously priced.

@Mike: We think alike! Personally, I’d consider the Streetfighter first before the Big Monster.

The Ducati streetfighter is insane. I would kill to have that bike. Well maybe not kill, maybe just maim.
