The Morning Linkage: A Giant in Motorcycling Safety Has Passed On

by Stacy on December 4, 2009

Here’s your morning linkage for Friday, December 4, 2009.

RIP Harry Hurt
Harry Hurt, the lead author of the motorcycle safety study commonly known as The Hurt Report, passed away on Sunday due to complications from back surgery. His work saved countless lives. He was 81. The LA Times published a well-written obituary. (Thanks for the tip, Mike.)

Get us some Dramamine, stat!
Right on the heels of the announcement that FIM has chosen to split from TTGXP to form its own electric motorbike racing series follows another interesting development — someone’s been throwing around the exclusive label with a little too much enthusiasm: Mission Motors Commits to 2010 TTXGP [UPDATED] While we enjoy youthful enthusiasm as much as the next bitter old greyhair, we’d like to remind you that this is why you keep your marketing interns under the lash.

Someone discovered that ATGATT ain’t cheap
…unless you have a cheap skull and a cheap body to go with it. How much $ are you “wearing” when you ride? – PNW Riders In other news, Icon announced its new line of Lady Streetwalker gear featuring armored pasties and go-go boots. $25 buys you the set.

And with that, a good morning to you all. May your gas tanks be full and your roads twisty.

Harry Hurt probably did more for motorcycle safety than anyone ever has. My condolences to his family. I hope someone continues the work.

I think your a little mistaken on the Icon gear. Have you looked at their prices for that garbage? Skulls are not cheap
