The laws around this are asinine- State laws refer to federal standards which in turn refer to SAE documents that aren't available to the general public w/o paying a fee. I know the Oregon coordinator, and (sorry if she's reading this) but she's vague, at best, when I try to get an answer. I've decided to finally hack off my OEM undertail and replace it with something a bit more svelte. Thanks to your recommendation, I ordered up a pair of Hyper Lites to go along with the new undertail (I ordered the flashing running/brake version), I don't know if they're legal here but I assume I'll find out soon enough with this year's NYPD spring blitz :) I thought I was done working on my bike for the winter after all the “TLC” updates on my blog… but wouldn’t you know it?
