I know a bunch of you are planning on going to the BMW MOA International Rally that’s being held in Redmond, Oregon this year. Why, that’s damn near my back yard. I’ll be able to see your tents from my house!1
Here’s my burning question: is there going to be some kind of “blogger meet-and-greet” on the schedule? If not, someone should organize one.
I’ll bring the HELLO, MY NAME IS stickers and you bring yourselves. Unless your name is bobskoot, then you should bring your video camera. Or Riepe, who should bring cigars and a baker’s dozen of umbrella girls, or…

Stacy:
I was hoping that someone would step up to the plate and be the co-ordinator. My only reason for going to the BMW MOA, Redmond, OR would be to meet fellow bloggers as I understand there will be a “few” that have expressed desire to be there, but they are riders of Beemers. It would be a chance to meet some of the “Legends of Oregon”; yourself, IronGrand-dad, Mike, Kari and to see Troubadour & Trobairitz again. A couple have posted that they will be there (GAW from St Louis, and Sharon from Chicago), and also a few others whom have expressed interest . Even Richard from Fairbanks will be visiting family in Corvalis that weekend. We should call it the 1st Annual International Bloggers Convention: IBC for short.

@bobskoot: [The other] Stacey and I were thinking about going to the rally, but probably not staying all 10 days or however long it is. Redmond’s a day trip for us.
If we want to have a meet-and-greet, I guess we should start getting the word out now.
The tricky part is if there’s already something being planned as part of the rally schedule. I’m not an MOA member and there’s no schedule of events on the website yet.
Stacy:
I was merely thinking of being in the Redmond Area for the weekend, then head back to Corvalis/Albany, perhaps as a base for day trips to the Coast, so I could be close to my blogger friends who may be working during the day.
I do find the Coast very congested. We were down about a year ago. perhaps if you wanted to do a short loop EAST (day or two) and ride some great roads, that could also be considered.

Stacy, nope. I live in St. Louis and will be in NJ w/ my ST3 during that week.
Best.
@Jim: We’ll think of you while we partake in some of the greatest riding in the US of A.
Planning on going but not on the bike. The heads need to be rebuilt (exhaust valve recession) so no long trips. I’ll pull the heads next fall after riding this summer. I posted a question on the BMWMOA forums asking if it was worth attending without a bike and received a number of positive responses.
If all goes according to plan, I will arrive in Redmond Thursday night or Friday. I plan to take-in the rally Saturday, then start my long trek home on Sunday Morning.
I think it would be great to meet, and am open to any suggestions.

Should we try to plan to meet at the rally itself or somewhere else?
Well, I vote for bolty.net as the official webpage of IBC2010, unless someone has a more private forum. I also think it would be cool to have a meet and greet in Corvallis and then all of us ride to the rally together. I am not into large crowds for long periods of time so I’m with Stacy, Stacey and Bobskoot to only be at the rally for an overnight (either Friday night or Saturday night). I am not committed yet, but it wouldn’t take much to twist my arm. Looking forward to working out the details and I will stay posted.
I love the IBC2010 idea! I wonder if we could get MTAJudy to coordinate this; I’m thinking she’s the go-to girl for organizing. I’ll pass your blog along to her, Stacy, and I’ll give her a call this week to discuss.
There are other bloggers/tweeters from Cali that are planning on coming up. We’ll be there on Thursday, I believe, and probably turning around on Saturday and coming home. But maybe not… it could be too much fun!
I would like to attend either the MOA or the IBC2010! I’d love to get some blogging tips from the pros!
I may just have to check with the hubby now that he has his moto running again.
We like Oregon. His daughter (who lives with us now) graduated from OSU.
I’m planning on a rather long trek west and up to that neighborhood…but it will be a month before the MOA Rally hits town. Stacy promised me a beer so I have to stop in there.
Note to RichardM: I went to the MOA Rally in Johnson City, TN without a bike. It was NOT pleasant! I’m an MOA member just like all the others, and I even had a bike on my truck which belonged to someone else, but I received less than a hospitable reception and treatment. I was yelled at, cussed, fingered, and all because I was driving a truck around the location to get back and forth from town. I will never attend another BMW MOA Rally.
Stacy/RichardM:
My only reason for coming is to meet fellow bloggers. I know many will be in and around Redmond, OR . I am not going to partake in any BMW MOA functions and since I do not have a Beemer or come in a truck I won’t be snubbed. I was hoping to meet up with a few of you and esp those living around Albany/Corvallis .
If things work out I should be there late Saturday, or I will arrive a day earlier on Friday. I could stay in Corvallis and ride out with the Oregon contingent and stay a day or so depending upon group wishes.
so Richard, whether in Redmond, or Corvallis it would be good to meet you
and I am wondering if I should purchase all my farkles now and send them to Stacy’s place for installation ! (LOL, just kidding)

Interestingly, I was thinking along the same lines. I have a motel reservation in Bend for the weekend just in case but was thinking of a day trip, as well. I’m headed over the third week of May for business and thought I might scout out an off site meeting place. Meeting folks would be my only reason to go to the rally.
I’d be interested in a day ride over with the gang.
The week following the rally will bring the Cascade Classic bicycle racers and another bicycle event. I may be going back over to work as a motorcycle mounted road marshall for those events. Guess I should get off my duff and finalize things.
Mr Irondad: Via: Stacy:
please don’t give up your reservation just yet. All places are booked the closest I could find was in Madras. I thought one night in the area then back to the coast. I am sure others will need a place too. If we only have one room between all of us, then it will be a very cosy IBC2010 . We await your scouting expedition . . .

We could forego BMWMOA and do our own IBC2010 somewhere motels or campgrounds are plenty.
