The ADV Picture Once-inator (for Firefox)

The ADV Picture Once-inator is a Greasemonkey script for Firefox that prevents images from being shown multiple times on a single page. This is particularly useful in preventing the dreaded “quote a bunch of pictures and add a one line comment” syndrome.

What Does It Do?

View a thread on ADVRider, preferably one with lots of pictures. The script will detect pictures that will be displayed multiple times. In the case of duplicates, the picture will be hidden and a handy link will appear in its place, like so:

Click the link to show the pic. Click it again to hide it. Simple.

Sounds Great, How Do I Get It?

1. The first requirement is Firefox.
2. The second requirement is the Greasemonkey extension. To install it, click on the link, then click on the “Add to Firefox” button. A dialog box will appear. Read it, then click on “Install Now”. Restart Firefox when prompted.

Once you have Greasemonkey, you can install the script by clicking on this link:

Install the ADV Picture Once-inator NOW!

A dialog box similar to the following will appear:

Read it, then click on “Install”. That’s it.

Uninstalling The Script

Not that you’d ever want to because it’s just that awesome…

1. Go to Tools -> Greasemonkey -> Manage User Scripts…
2. Select “ADV Picture Once-inator” from the list on the left, then click the Uninstall button.

Upgrading the Script

To upgrade this script when a new version is released:

1. Go to Tools -> Greasemonkey -> Manage User Scripts…
2. Select “ADV Picture Once-inator” from the list on the left, then click the Uninstall button.
3. Then, click here to install the new version: Install the ADV Picture Once-inator NOW!
